Pale Butter Garden
Project Name: Pale Butter Garden
Location: Taizhou_Zhejiang
Site Area: Approximately 100 sqm
Service Type: Landscape Design
Nestled along the Brisbane River, this private residential landscape occupies a sloping waterfront site with a significant 8-meter elevation change from front to rear. Collaborating with Brisbane-based Base Architect, our design responds sensitively to the terrain and the architectural vision.
The landscape transitions through a series of tailored spatial experiences: modern floating steps at the entrance gracefully address the level difference, leading to a contemplative Zen-inspired inner courtyard, and finally extending to terraced platforms at the rear that open toward the river. This layered approach creates rich visual and experiential depth, ensuring seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Materiality plays a key role in harmonizing the contemporary architecture with its natural context. We selected terrazzo paving, sandstone-textured walls, and fragmented stone feature screens to blend modern aesthetics with tactile, organic qualities. Every detail reinforces a cohesive dialogue between built form and the riverside environment.
Ultimately, this project embodies the philosophy of “embracing the riverbank”—a holistic landscape that not only merges with nature but also establishes a new benchmark for luxury residential design in Brisbane
